Reading at the Crossroads

Reading at the Crossroads is an archive for columns and letters which appeared in the Terre Haute Tribune Star. I also blog here when my patience is exhausted by what I feel is irritating, irrational and/or ironic in life. --gary daily

His Choices Match His Character

Terre Haute Tribune Star, Jan. 1, 2025

Choices match

Trump’s character

It’s natural and certainly acceptable to relate Trump’s choices for high appointive offices to the history and character of the man making those appointments.

It’s hard to imagine an appointment that could go deeper into the stench of Trump’s (non) values than his desire to make Matt Gaetz the Attorney General of the United States.

Trump’s behavior and attitude toward women is in the public and legal record. These facts are public knowledge and should have disqualified Trump for public office at any level. The Republican Party is responsible for nominating such a man.

Voters blind or indifferent to his crimes and deep character flaws served as willing, manipulated, and, in far too many instances, sexist pawns to his hold on power.

And now we all will suffer the result.
